Net Energy Metering (NEM) was implemented in November 2016 by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) as a complement to Feed-in Tariff (FiT)  and will be in operation until 2020.

When an eligible consumer installs a Solar PV System under NEM, surplus solar energy from the system is exported to the local grid. The more Solar energy is generated, the less is your need to import electricity from TNB/SESB, and the less you will have to pay for this electricity. Electricity cost is thus reduced. NEM is especially attractive for consumers with high electricity tariff.
